The Bayelsa State Government has announced the commencement of enforcement of its new regulation directing all commercial mini bus operators to paint their vehicles in the state’s official colours and display valid MOT numbers.
According to a statement by Hon. Ayebaekiepreye Brodrick, Commissioner for Transport, the six‑week compliance deadline expired on Thursday, 31st July 2025.
The Commissioner warned that it is now an offence for any mini bus operator who has yet to comply with the directive to continue operating on Bayelsa roads. He advised defaulters to stay off the road until they meet the requirements, in their own interest.
Hon. Brodrick further disclosed that defaulting operators risk having their vehicles impounded and will be subjected to a fine of 100,000 naira. She stressed that enforcement would begin immediately and without further warning.
